Research cores

for mass spectrometry in systems medicine

MSCoreSys is a research consortium that aims to establish mass spectrometric technologies in systems medicine to aid therapeutic decision-making in various diseases. Systems medicine increasingly contributes to understanding complex physiological and pathological processes, early diagnosis, and developing more precise therapies. Since mass spectrometry is emerging as a key technology for the characterization of proteins and metabolites as diagnostic biomolecules, MSCoreSys (“Research Cores for Mass Spectrometry in Systems Medicine”) aims to establish best practices for the broader use of innovative mass spectrometric methods in systems medicine. It unites four research cores across Germany (Berlin, Heidelberg, Mainz and Munich) to implement robust workflows, and to drive research for the discovery of biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis and treatment response in cancer, heart failure, and neuronal disorders.
